In 2016, NIDUM Architects — founded by Christopher Micallef together with Michael Pace, Joanna Spiteri Staines and Alberto Miceli-Farrugia — won the competition for the Gozo Museum in the island capital Victoria (Gozo - Malta).
In 2018, NIDUM called upon Studio Adrien Gardère to join their team as lead museographer, exhibition designer and artistic consultant.
The new museum comprises the extension and rehabilitation of the Ninu Cremona Boys Lyceum, an iconic piece of modernist architecture designed in the 1950s by architect Joseph Huntingford.
In 2019, the discovery of an extensive ancient quarry, dating back to the Punic and Roman periods on the site, brought the whole team to reinvent its project around the “sea of stone” that surrounds the modernist building and to create a completely new scheme and journey through the history and narratives that have defined the Gozitan identity.
