The first temporary exhibition of the Louvre-Lens offers an interpretation of the Renaissance from its origins to its diffusion throughout Europe in the 16th century. Nearly 270 exceptional works of the Louvre, paintings, sculptures and works of art including the Saint Anne of Leonardo da Vinci, reflect the abundance of this decisive period for both the arts and our European history .
Deliberately in contrast with the open space of the Galerie du Temps, Studio Adrien Gardère chose here to divide the space in order to multiply the rooms and effects of the perspective, while offering a wide variety of spaces, colors and configurations which illustrate the curators’ narrative. These perspectives echo the architectural principles of the Renaissance. This reference extends to museographic furniture, entirely made of wood and of massive and rough appearance, inspired by the great Renaissance wooden tables, notably those found in the Dürer’s engravings.
