Since 2005 Studio Adrien Gardère was in charge of the artistic direction and design of all exhibitions and installations of the international festivals of the Kennedy Center, the largest center of performing arts in the US, which offers more than 8.000 m2 of exhibition spaces.
Nordic Cool — the fifth international festival designed by the Studio — celebrated all Scandinavian countries, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden, as well as Greenland and the Faroe and Åland Islands.
For this festival the Studio designed all five featured exhibitions:
- the New Nordic - Architecture and Identity curated by the Louisiana Museum (Denmark)
- the Nordic Design Illustrated presenting a range of design, craft, fashion and industrial products from throughout the Nordic region, curated by Jukka Savolainen Director of the Design Museum in Helsinki.
- the Nobel Prize Exhibition in partnership with the Oslo Nobel Museum (Sweden & Norway)
- two children's exhibition and spaces : Legoland and Landscape Our World Our Future
and supervised and placed the six featured art installations:
- Kaarina Kaikkonen gigantic boat of shirts Are We Still Afloat? – (Finland)
- Juha Pykalainen Elk Towers displayed throughout the KC gardens (Åland Island)
- the artist Rúrí installation Archive-Endangered Waters – (Iceland)
- Trondur Patursson glass birds’ installation Migration – (Faroes Islands)
- Snohetta architects installation Sup-plywood, or How to be Singular in the Plural – (Norway)
- Jesper Garde Kongshaug projected Northern Lights onto the KC building - (Denmark)
