This exhibition brings together for the first time in the Orangerie of the Château de Sceaux all the cartons, sketches and preparatory drawings executed by Charles Le Brun for the creation of the cupola of the Pavillon de l'Aurore, located east of the domaine de Sceaux.
The scenography is directly inspired by the pictorial techniques of Le Brun (paintings on canvas and cardboard cutouts subsequently glued to the cupola), and of the games of perspectives, anamorphosis and "King’s point of view" characteristic of the Grand Siècle. Right from the entrance of the Orangerie, it offers a complete view — from an engraving by Simonneau — of the Pavillon de l'Aurore cupola, at scale one, and breaks down the themes and each of the allegories of the painting.
