"The Europe of Rubens", second temporary exhibition at the Louvre-Lens designed by Studio Adrien Gardère, highlights the influence of Peter Paul Rubens (1577-1640) on the European scene. Featuring more than 170 works by the artist, his models and some of his contemporaries (Van Dyck or Le Bernin), the works of art came not only from the collections of the Louvre in Paris, but also -- and for the first time at the Louvre-Lens -- from loans of more than fifty prestigious European and American museums.
Conceived in the continuity of the scenographic principles of the "Renaissance" exhibition, and reusing a large part of the existing furniture and partitions already designed by the Studio, the scenography of the exhibition again plays on an aesthetic contrast with the Galerie du Temps, on the multiplication of rooms and colors, while developing spaces capable of accommodating the huge tapestries made from the Rubens drawings.
