« Conceived as an anthology of remarkable master pieces, this exhibition deals for the first time with Persian art taken as a conceptual art, dominated by symbols. Often misunderstood, Iranian art may give the impression of being devoted to decoration alone. All the details, however, are steeped in meaning. The key to their interpretation is found in Persian literature ». (Souren Melikian Shirvani)
The scenography of this exhibition recalls the urbanism of Safavid cities and the lines and motives of Islamic architecture. Evoking the magnificent layout of Ispahan, spectacular tables, on which the artifacts are presented, drive the public towards life-like projections that recreate the reflections of the city’s monuments in virtual ponds.
