For its second edition and 15th anniversary of the magazine, Studio Adrien Gardère designed AD-Intérieurs exhibition in the stunning Hypostyle Hall of the unique Auguste Perret 1939 architecture of the Palais d’Iena headquarter of French Economic, Social and Environmental Council.
Some of the greatest French interior decorators were invited to exhibit: Alexandre de Betak, Bismut & Bismut, Dimore Studio, Damien Langlois-Meurinne Luis Laplace, Thierry Lemaire, Gwenael Nicolas, Patrick Norguet, Oitoemponto, Isabelle Stanislas, Daniel and Thierry Suduca Merillou.
Between the twenty truncated-cone columns and in front of large windows overlooking the Eiffel tower, the Studio developed a series of ephemeral and simple volumes in close dialogue with the place. These cubic modules follow the square framework of the Hypostyle Hall, giving rhythm to the space and creating settings for the décor featured in the exhibition. The Viroc coating – a melt of wood and cement – of these monumental monoliths responds to the concrete architecture of Auguste Perret without diminishing it. Their simplicity and radical volumes contrast with the refinement of the interior designs developed by the decorators while keeping the surprise of every new décor.
